Bringing people together through the simple
act of sitting and sharing a drink or two (or three).
We try our darnest to reflect simplicity in what we offer. From our specialty teas, delicious beverages to our small plates of locally-sourced food. And it all comes together in this cosy, casual nook in the heart of this crazy city.
ChoCha Foodstore has been a quiet fixture in KL since 2016 — a worn-in corner on Jalan Petaling where modern Malaysian dining feels less like a statement and more like a natural thing.
The food is rooted in what's local: small plates built around
seasonal Malaysian ingredients, heirloom produce, and a kitchen that takes the familiar and makes it curious.
We are not trying to be fine dining. We are trying to be honest. Come in. Sit down. Stay a while.
What is Hentam Kromo ?
Chef Nazri :
The name takes its cue from a metal band that blends
traditional Malay instruments into their music.
Originally, the concept even played with elements like “betel chewing” and featured traditional objects such as the tepak sirih in the menu setup. While those details didn’t make it into the final story, the spirit remains.
Though “hentam kromo” roughly translates to something like “careless” or “reckless,” for me, it means doing things our way — boldly, unapologetically, without worrying about outside opinions.
It’s a mindset: we create what feels right and let the rest fall where it may.

Hentam Series 02
- From coast, river, and mangrove
A seafood-driven tasting that explores intensity through the lens of the sea.
Rooted in coastal waters, rivers, and mangroves the menu presents freshwater catch through fermented, grilled, steamed, and crushed expressions.
Each ingredient is handled with clarity and intent, allowing natural salinity, sweetness, and texture to lead.
Hentam is expressed through bold yet precise cooking— instinctive, restrained, and grounded in tradition.
Produce is both the origin and the voice of this series, deeply connected to place.
